Woldingham Countryside Walk

Local Godstone Vineyards Walks

an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty

Godstone Vineyards is situated within the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and if you enjoy walking there are some marvellous walks through gentle hills and sweeping valleys, with stunning views across the glorious North Downs and Wealden countryside and yet just 30 minutes by train from London Victoria!

The walk which we highly recommend is the Woldingham Countryside Walk, starting and finishing at Woldingham Railway Station (which is sited upon the London to East Grinstead and Uckfield lines). This is a stunning trail in an unfrequented fold of the North Downs Way. Through shady woods of beech and whitebeam, across flowery swards with common spotted orchid, twayblade and sky-blue milkwort, then home past the grand convent mansion that houses Woldingham School, tucked down under the slopes of Marden Park, before concluding your walk back to Woldingham Station.

How long is the walk?

The entire route of the Woldingham Walk is approximately 5 miles (3 hours) however if you prefer to shorten your walk and spend more time enjoying our wines then this is a shortcut:

Exit Woldingham Station via the exit on the 'Up Platform' (trains going towards London) and walk down to the path; turn left and follow the road through Marden Park and pass  Woldingham School. At the end of this road there is a white house called 'South Lodge', walk to the right hand side and follow the North Downs Way. At Britannia Sanderstead veer left down Quarry Road and our entrance is 500 metres down. The walk from Woldingham Station to our vineyard will take approximately one hour in each direction.

Location & Parking

There is limited parking at Woldingham Station, plus Woldingham Car Park (CR3 7LT) which is a two minute walk from the Station. There is also limited free parking on nearby Church Road.

How difficult is the walk?

The Woldingham Walk is predominantly undulating with some stiff uphill/downhill sections; the ground often becomes slippery underfoot especially during winter. There are several stiles en route. We recommend the wearing of appropriate clothing and footwear.
